Summary
The Fleet Manager, reporting to the Vice-President Operations Ontario, is responsible for managing the Company vehicles, site equipment and rented site equipment to ensure its’ optimal use and operational effectiveness. This role works closely with the Construction Supervisors to provide support in all aspects of fleet and tooling management.
This position is located in Kitchener, Ontario.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years in a fleet management role
- High voltage construction experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle registration and compliance.
- Thorough knowledge of materials, methods and techniques used on fleet maintenance activities and facility maintenance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and purchasing procedures.
- Logistics and planning skills.
- Proficient communicator who can present well and influence others when appropriate.
- Able to understand workplace-based problems and analyze them to develop appropriate solutions. You demonstrate superior judgement in all areas of the business that you interact with. Able to make decisions independently of other’s involvement.

Duties
Fleet Management
- Responsible for the daily/weekly tracking and reporting location of all company owned tools, equipment and vehicles.
- Work with suppliers to obtain optimal pricing on tools and equipment.
- Manages our vehicles to better serve our clients, improve performance, and control cost.
- Work with construction supervisors to assist in the delivery of equipment between job sites. Minimize the amount costs associated with shipping IPS material and equipment to sites.
- Recommending reductions or additions to facilities and equipment and changes in level of service.
- Manage all aspects of vehicle registration compliance, Commercial vehicle inspections, vehicle permitting, etc.
- Provides technical support and consultation to team members on proper use, care and preventative maintenance on all assets you are responsible for.
- Develop, Manage and coordinate fleet and facility maintenance programs.
- Manage process to measure fleet utilization.
- Makes recommendations to fleet replacement decisions for vehicles and equipment with pricing.
Management
- Develops and promotes effective work programs that incorporates life-cycle costing concepts and maximizes the resources available from operating and capital budgets.
- Identifies and pursues opportunities to optimize fleet, tool and equipment effectiveness and efficiency.
- Supervises shop operations including a variety of scheduled equipment activities, preventative and routine maintenance and emergency/unscheduled maintenance activities.
IT
- Implement and mange Tool hound application.
- Raise PO’s as required with Sage Intact application.
- Manage Geotab functions and reporting.
