Basic Function

Electricians foster an environment of construction execution excellence and help build a culture focused on providing solutions, not problems. They are responsible for organizing and overseeing day-to-day activities on job sites while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Electricians are proficient in all aspects of electrical construction and maintenance and work closely with the Construction Manager and Supervisors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client expectations.

Qualifications

Education

• Journeyman/Journeywoman Electrician Certification, PLT, or PSE.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience as an Electrician involved in high-voltage, electrical, or distribution construction.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, including underground, overhead, substations, and/or streetlighting.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and develop apprentices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PDF editors, and other computer-based applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, clients, and the public.

Duties

Leadership

• Demonstrate and uphold Iconic’s core values.
• Serve as a role model for safety, professionalism, and accountability.
• Coach and mentor apprentices, promoting skill development and positive work habits.

Operations

• Utilize company-provided software and Apple products daily.
• Participate in scheduled after-hours and on-call support rotations.
• Lead and participate in daily tailboard meetings.
• Complete all required daily safety documentation (FLHA).
• Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Follow all project safety and environmental requirements.
• Maintain awareness of project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Submit daily timesheets through ADP.
• Work closely with Supervisors to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.
• Identify and communicate potential changes in project scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure team safety and compliance with client requirements, including limits of approach.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Verify that all installations meet or exceed Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) standards and client specifications.
• Understand project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Coordinate daily work activities and material requirements with the Foreman.
• Assist with quality control inspections and documentation.
• Develop and manage Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for energy isolation.
• Participate in on-call rotations as required.

A further improvement would be to rename the position throughout the document to Electrician (Journeyman/Journeywoman) on first reference, then simply Electrician thereafter. This is more candidate-friendly while still clearly identifying the required certification level.
