Summary
The Health Safety and Environment (HSSE) Manager creates a culture of safety and environmental excellence. At Iconic Power Systems our number one priority is making sure everyone gets home safely. The HSSE manager is pivotal and accountable to this core value.
The HSSE Manager is responsible for ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are adhered to, and that policies and practices are adopted. The HSSE Manager helps to plan, implement, monitor, and review the protective and preventative measures that the company is required or chooses to follow, and works to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, and injuries. The HSSE Manager also plays a leadership role in mentoring, coaching, and training HSE best practices.
Qualifications
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation
- Graduate Certificate or Diploma in related discipline (i.e., HSE Certificate, Environmental studies certification)
- A minimum of 10 years of related HSE experience that includes at least 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience.
- High voltage construction
Skills
- Advanced health, safety, and environmental management
- Knowledge of substation construction and associated safety
- Understanding of provincial OH&S, WCB, AEP and other regulatory
- Ability to resolve complex issues in a timely
- Ability to build relationships with clients and subcontractor HSE
- Comfortable and proficient with computer safety software such as SiteDocs, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks and MS Office.
Duties
HSE Management
- Leads the company in complying with current health, safety, and environmental legislation and/or regulations within the provinces that Iconic Power Systems operate in.
- Ensures that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety of employees, clients, and visitors on site and in the office.
- Increases health, safety, and environmental awareness at all levels within the
- To develop and maintain an incident reporting practice that promotes proactive reporting of all safety and environmental opportunities and/or near misses.
- Responds to employees’ safety & environmental
- To coordinate or deliver the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections and other matters related to implementing safety.
- Maintains COR (Certificate of Recognition), ISNetworld and other client or provincial
- Maintains and oversees safety manual to ensure we meet client and OH&S
- Maintains and oversees environmental manual to ensure we meet client and AEP
- Maintaining safety record
- Having knowledge of WCB and OH&S worker rights and
- Providing a safety presence at all job sites throughout the project at least
- Issuing verbal/written infractions to non-compliant workers and maintaining
- Participating and preparing HSE components for bid qualification
Leadership
- Coordinating and directing field activities for the HSE Advisor(s)
- Overseeing the hire and orientation process for new field employees from a HSE standpoint.
