PROJECT MANAGER, TEAM LEAD (Ontario)

Summary
The Project Manager, Team Lead is accountable for the safe and timely delivery of projects and fosters an environment for construction execution excellence. The position encompasses the simultaneous management of several projects ranging anywhere in value from $5,000.00 up to $ 50M. The Project Manager, Team Lead is directly accountable for the profitability of each of the projects they manage and is constantly looking for opportunities to improve on the delivery and customer experience. This position will work closely with the Director of Projects, Construction Manager, Quality Manager, HSE Manager, Fleet Manager and Field Supervisors to ensure all client/owners expectations are met or exceeded.
The Project Manager, Team Lead will provide mentorship, process improvement and analytical support to project team members with the intent of increasing productivity and adding value. Responsible for overseeing project management, coordination, administration, and cost/schedule control.
Qualifications
- Post-Secondary degree, ideally in a relevant field (business, project management, engineering).
- 10+ years’ experience in a management or leadership position.
- Extensive project management experience with small to mid-sized projects
- Experience building and adapting defined systems, processes, and procedures with an eye on growth.
Skills

Duties
The Project Manager, Team Lead performs a wide range of duties including the following:
Leadership
- Monitor project health across their portfolio of projects and the work of direct reports.
- Engages in conflict resolution and works with managers, staff, and clients to resolve issues.
- Holds regularly scheduled meetings with all direct reports on a weekly basis.
- Leads the way in ethics, code of conduct and HSE matters.
HR
- Conduct performance evaluations with direct reports.
- Develops short and long-term staffing plan in conjunction with operational managers.
Project Management
- Define the scope and budget of the project in collaboration with senior management.
- Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
- Determine the resources required to complete the project.
- Develop a schedule for project completion.
- Develop a project financial forecast that meets or exceeds the proposal gross margin.
- Review the project schedule as required with Project Management team.
Project Staffing
- In consultation with the Construction Manager develop staffing plan for the project.
- Ensure all worked hours are properly tracked and all overtime is approved.
- Ensure that all interested parties are prepared for project launch.
Project Execution
- Collaborate with Field Supervisors and Construction Manager to complete daily project tasks.
- Procure subcontractor services and material as per the approved proposal. Ensure PO’s and contracts are issued for all services and material.
- Ensure all contractual commitments are tracked.
- Create and manage change orders as required.
- Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
- Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion.
- Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the client’s expectations.
Project Control
- Write reports on the project for management.
- Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures.
- Monitor cash flow forecasts and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis (monthly).
- Ensure all scope changes are captured, approved, and forecasted via Iconic change management process.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation as outlined in funding agreements.
- Prepare and submit accurate monthly project invoices, including the establishment of appropriate progress revenue accruals.
- Verify quantities, labor, materials, and approve change orders against contracts and purchase orders, and coordinate with field and accounting teams to resolve discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
- Monitor billing milestones, retainage, and approve change orders to ensure all billable work is captured and invoiced within required timelines and in accordance with client and subcontractor agreements.
- Attend regular tactical and strategic meetings.
- Attend all project-relevant meetings.
