Summary
The Project Manager is accountable for the safe and timely delivery of Distribution and/or Civil projects. They create an environment for construction execution excellence through the effective use of communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. The Project Manager encompasses the simultaneous management of several projects. They are directly accountable for the financials of each of the projects they manage across Western Canada
The Project Manager is constantly looking for opportunities to improve on the delivery and customer experience of construction projects. Through close collaboration with the Construction Manager, Quality Manager, HSSE Manager, Engineering Team, Fleet Manager and Field Supervisors, the Project Manager will ensure all client/owners' expectations are met or exceeded.
Qualifications
- College or University Degree in related field and/or Substation Construction Supervision or Journeyman Experience
- P. Eng designation is preferred.
- PMI designation is considered an asset.
- 10+ years of Project Management experience.
- 5+ years of managing construction projects.
- 5+ years of Journeyman experience in High Voltage Construction
- Extensive high voltage construction experience.
- Regulated Utility experience would be an asset.

- In-depth understanding of substation construction sequencing, industry-standard methods, and best practices.
- Advanced financial acumen in project management, including precise forecasting, cost estimating, and accrual tracking
- Strong knowledge of procurement strategies and end-to-end purchasing processes.
- Proven ability to successfully lead and deliver EPC projects.
- Solid grasp of engineering design principles and development lifecycle processes.
- Skilled in resolving complex technical and operational issues efficiently and effectively.
- Exceptional client engagement and relationship management capabilities, fostering long-term partnerships
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including advanced use of Microsoft Project for scheduling and project coordination.
Duties
- Define and manage the scope and budget of the project in collaboration with senior management.
- Develop and oversee a staffing plan and project schedules, ensuring resource allocation and alignment of activities for efficient project delivery.
- Develop and oversee a project financial forecast that meets or exceeds the proposal gross margin.
- Define clear project objectives and success metrics to effectively evaluate performance and outcomes upon project completion.
- Manage any health, safety or environmental incidents with the Client and Iconic team.
- Procure subcontractor services and material as per the approved proposal and ensure PO’s and contracts are issued for all services and material.
- Ensure all contractual commitments are tracked and create/manage change orders as required.
- Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures.
- Monitor cash flow forecasts and report cash flow and variance to senior management regularly (monthly).
- Ensure all scope changes are captured, approved, and forecasted via Iconic change management process.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for funders as outlined in funding agreements.
- Effectively engages in conflict resolution by working with managers, staff, and clients to address challenges and implement constructive solutions.
- Leads or attends all project-relevant meetings such as project handoff, kick-offs, client, and reviews.
- Proactively manage project risks and issues in collaboration with the client’s project manager to ensure alignment, transparency, and timely resolution.
- Manage project escalations appropriately to ensure safe and timely resolution.
- Ensure timely and efficient project closeout, including final deliverables and documentation.

- This position is a mix of office and field work. A small portion of this position's time will require field work.
