A well-executed testing and commissioning program is what turns a completed installation into a reliable, in-service asset. ICONIC tests and commissions substations up to 500 kV to client specifications, regulatory requirements and industry standards, including ANSI/NETA. We support our clients from initial pre-commissioning activity to thorough functional testing through energization and turnover. 

Every project is governed by a project-specific Quality Control program and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), submitted for client approval before work begins, with defined hold points, witness points and acceptance criteria. Checks are performed with calibrated equipment and documented procedures. 

Our testing and commissioning services include: 

• Protection and Control Testing – protective relay element and logic testing, firmware verification and upgrades, circuit commissioning, system integration, and functional testing of protection schemes.  

• Primary Equipment Testing – insulation resistance, contact resistance, SF6 filling and gas analysis, breaker contact timing and travel analysis, power factor, instrument transformer ration, polarity and saturation, and power transformer turns ration, excitation and winding resistance.  

• SCADA and RTU Integration – alarms, controls and status point verification and functional testing.  

• Ground Grid and Soil Resistivity Testing 

• Energization Support, Acceptance and As-Built Redlines
